STSM

STSMs

Short-term scientific missions (STSM) consist in exchange visits between researchers participating in a COST Action. This kind of activity is allowing scientists to visit an institution or laboratory in another COST Member, Cooperating Member or Near-Neighbour Country joining the Action. The duration of such  missions may last up to six months. The aim of a STSM is to foster collaboration in relevant  research infrastructures and to share new techniques that may not be available in a participant’s home institution or laboratory.

Action Meeting

Action Meetings

Different kinds of meetings are to be organised by a COST Action, and those can take place in any COST Member State joining the network. They include Management Committee meetings, working group meetings, workshops and conferences. The meeting can be open to the wider community, depending on the topic to be discussed and so provide opportunities to enlarge the COST Action’s community.

Training School

Training Schools

Training schools are another instrument of COST Actions for sharing knowledge and ensuring collaboration between participants of the Action and beyond. Training schools offer intensive interactive learning of up to 15 days on topics related to the COST Action. The training school takes typically place on the premise of the Action participants

Conferences

Conference Grants

Recently, the possibility for conference grants for young researchers from Inclusiveness Target Countries has been implemented. Those conference grants offer a possibility to PhD students and early-career investigators to participate to international science and technology related conferences that are not necessarily organised by a COST Action.

Workshops

Conferences & Workshops

A COST Action organises conference and workshops that are on topics related to the Action. Those events allow a deeper discussion on themes, on the basis of submissions done also by researchers not being involved in the Action. This allows the COST Action to get acquainted with research work done in other contexts and projects.

Supported Events

A COST Action can contribute to events by providing a small financial support or publicity. On the web page or in the proceedings of such events, the Logo of the COST Action will contribute to enhancing the visibility of the COAST Action.
